Updating Training on Basic Training – Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (BT-PSSR)
The Updating Training on Basic Training – Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (BT-PSSR) is designed for seafarers who already hold a valid or recently expired BT-PSSR certificate and need to refresh their knowledge and skills. The course focuses on maintaining a high level of awareness of personal safety, safe working practices, and social responsibilities on board in accordance with the STCW Convention and Code.
Training modules typically cover personal safety culture, risk awareness, accident prevention, communication and teamwork, human relationships on board, and the importance of following shipboard procedures and emergency instructions. Emphasis is placed on practical understanding of roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe and secure working environment, as well as promoting a positive safety culture among all crew members.
Upon successful completion of the BT-PSSR updating course, participants receive an approved certificate that confirms continued competence and compliance with current international maritime safety standards. This refresher training helps ensure that seafarers remain confident, competent, and prepared to contribute to safe operations on every voyage.
